Soumya 'Unstoppable' with the bat in Domestic league

CRICDOT DESK : Soumya Sarkar is in great form in domestic cricket. After the T20 World Cup, he dropped out of the national team and returned to the run with this left-arm national league. He has scored his second century in three matches in BCL. In the middle of his unbeaten 126-run innings yesterday, the central region has scored 293 runs for 4 wickets against the southern region in Chittagong. In another match in Rajshahi, Shafiqul Islam picked up 5 wickets and bowled out East for 18 runs. In reply, Uttaranchal picked up 71 runs without wickets at the end of the day.

After winning the toss at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, Dakshinanchal started the bowling attack with Nasum. The left-arm spinner reciprocated the captain’s confidence by bowling two openers Mizanur Rahman and Mohammad Mithun in just 23 runs. In the meanwhile Mizanur went to sweep him and missed the line and lost the stump. Mithun was bold in one of his great deliveries. Then Saumya and Salman formed a resistance.

Both of them picked up half-centuries in patient batting. Legspinner Rishad Hossain broke their 144-run partnership. BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon expressed surprise that no team took legspinner in the second round of BCL. The board president said he would look into the matter. Maybe that’s why Rishad is seen in this round. Rishad bowled Salman, who scored 80 runs in a great delivery, and argued for a legspinner. In the next over, Rishad also trapped Taibur Parvez in the LB trap. For the rest of the day, Saumya did not allow any more wickets to be taken with the lucky home.

They added 116 runs for the fifth wicket to take the team to close to 300. Soumya completed his century with 205 balls. He scored a century in the first round in Chittagong. This is Soumya’s fifth century in first-class cricket. In the current three matches of the BCL, two centuries have come. And in all, he got fifty runs in five consecutive matches.

In Rajshahi, Ashraful returned with a run but Purbanchal could not make a big score. Left-arm pacer Shafiqul Islam’s superb bowling helped them to 17 runs. Shafiqul took 5 wickets. Two spinners Sanjamul and Sharifullah shared the remaining 5 wickets.
