CRICDOT DESK : New Zealand lost the first wicket by 148 runs after batting against Bangladesh. Will Young became the victim of Shariful with a catch by Naeem in the last ball of the 36th over of the innings.

He made 54 runs. His innings was 5 fours.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field against New Zealand. The hosts are batting against the Taskin-worshipers. Bangladeshi bowlers have been beaten. With complete failure, the Bangladesh team had to spend the first session in Christchurch from wicketless.

Latham survived the first Test with two reviews in the ninth over by the devastating bowler Ibadat. After two reviews went in favor of New Zealand, Bangladesh camp became frustrated.

The New Zealand captain survived the review against the umpire’s decision. After two balls, umpire Wayne Knights gave Latham LBW again for failing to match the bat-ball. Again, the review goes in Latham’s favor.

The first time the ball of worship would miss the leg stamp, the next one would go over the stamp.

At the time of writing, New Zealand had scored 189 runs for the loss of one wicket in the first 45 overs. At the other end of the 100-run Latham, Devon Conway is unbeaten on 14.

Bangladesh is playing in this match without Mushfiqur Rahim. The country’s best batsman is unable to play due to a groin injury. Nurul Hasan is playing in his place and he is also in charge of wicketkeeping. Mohammad Naeem has made his debut in place of Mahmudul Hasan who was earlier injured due to a finger injury. The left-arm opening batsman has become the 100th Test cricketer of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh’s previous record in Christchurch is not good. Bangladesh has so far lost only one Test in this field. Bangladesh was scheduled to play a Test match there in 2019, but the match was canceled due to an attack on a mosque at that time.

Bangladesh has not won any of the three ODIs played at this venue. In the last ODI match played in March 2021, Tamimra came very close but lost.
