CRICDOT DESK : Shaheen Shah Afridi, at the forefront of Pakistan’s pace, took the top spot in 2021 and was named ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year earlier this week. He played a key role in Pakistan’s Stellar Rumen at the T20 World Cup, where he won 10 wickets against rival India in a Super 12 match at Dubai International Stadium. The 21-year-old clinched his “dream hat-trick” on Saturday. It featured three of the current Indian Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli powerhouses.

“Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli”, Shaheen answered in “25 Questions” on ESPNCricinfo. In the same exchange, Shaheen was asked for the name of the most valuable ticket gate he had ever earned in his career.
His answer: “Virat Kohli”. Interestingly, Shaheen wasn’t a hat-trick, but was able to wicket Rohit, Rahul, and Kohli during last year’s T20 World Cup match.

Shaheen released Rohit and Raffle in the first ban, and then released Kori, then Indian skipper, in the final over of the second ban. His 31-3 number helped Pakistan limit India to a total of 151 of 7. In response, Pakistan easily chased the total as skippers Babar Azam and Mohammad Lizwan recorded half a century undefeated.

ICC has announced the schedule for the T20 World Championships in Australia later this year. As before, India and Pakistan will face off at the opening match of the tournament at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on October 23rd.
Shaheen wants to repeat his achievements against India at MCG, if not at all.
