Rishabh Pant Surpasses MS Dhoni In Elite List Of Wicketkeepers

CRICDOT DESK : Indian wicket keeper Rishabh Pant reached a major milestone in his first test against South Africa on Tuesday at Centurion’s supersports park. He surpassed MS Dhoni to become the fastest Indian wicket keeper to post 100 test layoffs. He achieved this feat with the dismissal of Temba Bavuma. Pants reached a milestone in the 26th test, but Doni did the same in the 36th test. South African wicket keeper Quinton Decock has been at the top of the overall list after registering 100 layoffs in just 22 tests.

The 23-year-old Indian is also the sixth Indian to reach the three-digit mark after Doni, Sayyid Kilmer, Kiranmore, Nayan Monzia and Uridiman Saha. As a record, Doni has the most layoffs by 294 Indian wicketkeepers.

Horse took a break at home for a series of tests in the last two games against New Zealand. Saha left the team’s wickets absent as India won the Series 10 after defeating Kiwi with 9 wickets in their second test in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, India was thrown at 327 and lost the last 7 wickets in just 55 runs on the third day of the first test in progress.

However, guests made a strong comeback at the beginning of Tuesday when they received seven South African ticket gates. India is in South Africa, doing three tests and then doing the same number of ODIs.

The second test will take place on January 3rd at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. The third and final test match will begin on January 11th in Newlands, Cape Town. As a record, India has never won a series of tests in South Africa. This is her eighth visit to Rainbow Nation after losing the series on six of the last seven visits.
