CRICDOT DESK : Ashwell Prince has stepped down as the batting coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team. But now the question is why he has suddenly resigned from the post of batting coach of the national team?

The former cricketer, who played six Tests, 52 ODIs and one T20I for South Africa, has resigned to give his family more time, South Africa’s Independent Online (IOL) reported on Wednesday (February 9th).

There have been rumors circulating in the cricket field for some time that Prince may be sacked before the Afghanistan series. Aussie coach Jamie Siddons has joined the national team’s coaching panel.

In July last year, Ashwell Prince took charge of the Bangladesh team. He had a contract with BCB till October-November. But he abruptly resigned before the end of the contract.

Batting coach Ashwell Prince has not had a good time with the Bangladesh team since the T20 World Cup. The Tigers have been suffering from batting failure in the Pakistan series since the World Cup. The South African coach resigned just before the start of the Afghanistan series.

However, a source said that an e-mail was recently sent by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) proposing Prince to be the batting coach of the Bangladesh Hyperperformance (HP) team instead of the batting coach of the national team. But the prince could not accept such a resignation. The South African coach felt humiliated after receiving an e-mail from the BCB. That is why it is said that he left.

Meanwhile, Prince from South Africa also told the media that he decided to resign as he did not want to take charge of the high performance team.

According to BCB sources, Prince was recently informed by the board that although he was not in the contract, he may leave the national team and be given the responsibility of another team. Prince did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the BCB.

Now that Prince has resigned, it has been confirmed that Siddons is the new batting coach of the Bangladesh team.
