Nahida Akhter on the list of ICC’s player of the month
PBC News: Nahida Akhter has been named the first Bangladeshi woman cricketer to be named in the ICC’s list of the best of the month. The left-arm spinner has been shortlisted for the ICC Cricket World Cup for November. Nahida was the first Bangladeshi woman cricketer to be nominated.
Nahida Akhter was the best bowler in the three-match series against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo before the World Cup qualifiers. He took 11 wickets at an average of only 4.61. In the second match, Nahida took 5 wickets for only 21 runs. He took 5 wickets as the second bowler in the women’s ODIs.
Zimbabwe were bowled out for 72 in Nahid’s bowling. Nahida also played a key role in the World Cup qualifier against Pakistan after the series against Zimbabwe, taking the wickets of Xavier Khan and Iram Javed.
Along with Nahid, Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Anam Amin and West Indies all-rounder Haley Mathews have been named the best female cricketers of the month. Amin took 9 wickets at an average of 11.22 in the three-match series against the West Indies, taking 5 for 35 in the first ODI.
Australia’s David Warner, New Zealand’s Tim Southee and Pakistan’s Abid Ali have been shortlisted for the best boys cricketers in November.
