‘Liton Das is a world class batsman’
CRICDOT DESK : Bangladesh did not bat as expected in the Christchurch Test. Mominul Haque Sourav, who was bowled out for 126 in the first innings, was bowled out for 26 in the second innings to avoid follow-on. The host New Zealand won by an innings and 117 runs.
Liton, who was dismissed for 6 in the first innings, hit 102 off 14 boundaries and a six in the second innings. In the second innings of his impeccable century, Bangladesh were all out for 26 runs after falling behind by 395 runs.
In the second innings as in the first innings, Bangladesh lost by a big margin of 116 runs due to batting failure. Wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das has played a little in the losing Test.
Appreciating his batting, captain Mominul Haque Sourav said at the end of the game, “Liton is technically very sound. Seeing Liton batting, it seems that he gets a lot more time. Like world class players.
“It was great to see the batting,” he added. We are all very happy. He has scored two centuries in two consecutive series this year, everyone on the team is happy. I also enjoyed his batting very much.
The captain of the Bangladesh Test team further said, “I think there was no other ball than the bad ball.” If you can’t use the balls that are worth scoring, you won’t run. I think after waiting for a long time, when the bad ball got too much, it went up.
