Julian Calefato steps down as Bangladesh Physio!
CRICDOT DESK : Before the tour of Zimbabwe in July this year, there were rumors that national team physio Julian Callefato was leaving his job. Calefato, of South African descent and now an Italian, has since worked on four more series in the Tigers’ dressing room. He has finished his chapter in Bangladesh cricket. Callefato resigned after the T20 series against Pakistan.
He said the matter on social media yesterday. While in the biological safety zone, Calefato is out of breath. So he is not renewing the contract with BCB anymore. Akram Khan, chairman of the BCB’s cricket operations department, also confirmed the departure of Calfato yesterday.
“After much thought, I decided that I would no longer be with the Bangladesh Cricket Board,” Callefato wrote on Instagram. As a physio of an international cricket team, it was very challenging to travel abroad in such a situation. That’s for me, for the cricketers. It must have been difficult to adapt to the biological protection zone. In the last 18 months I have had to do about 100 PCR tests! Thanks to Bangladesh Cricket Board for the opportunity. ‘
It is to be mentioned that in September 2019, Calefator was appointed as the physio of the national team in BCB.
