Jos Buttler To Replace Eoin Morgan as England’s T20I Captain ?
CRICDOT DESK : Jos Buttler, with the support of Michael Vaughn, will take over Eoin Morgan as England’s exclusive cricket captain. Butler is still one of the best bats in white ball cricket, but his number in test cricket is not up to date, including the ongoing Ashes 202122 in Australia. In his column on the telegram, Vaughn wrote that Butler could not find the right pace to succeed in red ball cricket. In the ongoing Ash 2021 streak, Butler recorded only 107 runs in 7 innings.
He achieved a disastrous 16 with his highest score of 39. The 31-year-old did not score in this order and was not in the best condition behind the stump. Vaughan believes that Morgan should be replaced as England’s White Ball captain. The 47-year-old writes that he is personally convinced that Butler is on the verge of taking over White ball Captain’s post ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia in November.
Morgan, the only captain of more than 50 world champions in England, has recently had a racket problem. At World T202021, he recorded only 68 runs in 6 games. In addition, England’s departure from the tournament in the semi-finals further questioned his future as team captain.
Vaughan said that if Morgan could find himself quickly, he should continue as a skipper, but if he could go further south, Butler should take over Marquee. “He needs to be free to lead the team, as Morgan has been doing for the past six months. It’s hard to play all three formats as a goalkeeper,” Vaughn wrote. Having recorded 11 runs in the 4th Ash Test in Sydney, Butler will not play the final match at Hobart due to a hand injury.
