For Nazmul Hasan, the election was a formality. There was a bit of curiosity about his vote count. There is enough reflection of power. He was elected as the BCB director with 53 votes out of 57 from Abahani Limited’s Councilor Category-2.
He was elected as the board director after getting the highest number of votes in this year’s BCB election. Gazi Golam Murtaza and Enayet Hossain Siraj also got 53 votes each from the same category.
The directors of this category are elected by the votes of the club representatives. Ismail Haider Mallick was elected with 52 votes. In all, 12 directors were selected from this category. The new faces are Obaid Nizam, Fahim Sinha, Salahuddin Chowdhury, Iftekhar Mahmud and Manzur Alam.
Nazmul Abedin, the country’s eminent coach and current BKSP cricket adviser, gave a different dimension to this year’s election by fighting for the post of board director. But in the end he lost to Khaled Mahmood in category 3.
A total of 40 votes were cast in this category. Former captain Khaled Mahmud got 36 votes and Nazmul got 3 votes.
Another former captain, Khaled Masood, however, lost the fight to become a board director for the first time. The BCB president will then be elected by a vote of the elected directors. The possibility of Nazmul Hasan being in charge for the third time in a row is still strong.
