Ebadat Hossain wishes wicketless career beginning to none
CRICDOT DESK : With just one match, fast bowler Ebadat Hossain has come to the center of discussion in the cricket world. Cricket legends, starting from vocal supporters, also paid homage to him. However, the beginning of the international career of this Bangladeshi fast bowler was not so happy. Many even questioned his inclusion in the Mount Manganui Test XI. That worship is now one of the greatest success heroes of Bangladesh cricket.
Ebadat Hossain has played 11 Tests since his debut in 2009. He has 17 wickets. Of which he took 6 in the last test. In other words, he took only 11 wickets in the first 160 matches. This raises questions about his abilities and that is normal. However, it is common in the cricketing world that the pacer gets regular chances in the XI due to the choice of pace bowling coach Otis Gibson.
That’s why this question came up in an interview given to ESPNcricinfo. Then Ebadat Hossain said, “I don’t want anyone else to start their international career like me. I had to suffer a lot. I used to call Otis (pace bowling coach) coach, not even a Test wicket comes easily. I had to work hard for every wicket. Sometimes I would get a wicket after bowling 16, 22 or 33 overs. There have been Tests where I have taken just one wicket. ‘
In response, he (Otis Gibson) smiled and said, “Welcome to Test cricket.” You are a Bangladeshi pace bowler. The condition is not in your favor. How many Tests do you play in a year? So, make the most of your opportunities. ‘
