BCB hire A R Rahman ahead start of DPL
CRICDOT DESK : The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will host a concert of Oscar winning musician AR Rahman on March 29 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
AR Rahman’s concert was scheduled to take place in March 2020 with two T20 matches of the ‘Mujib Hundred Cup’ between Asia XI and World XI. The BCB was forced to withdraw from the massive event as the whole world came to a standstill due to the Kovid-19 epidemic.
But even after two years, part of that festival continues to see the light of day. The BCB is currently unable to host two T20 matches due to international busyness. The country’s cricket board has just decided to hold a concert. The news was confirmed by BCB chief executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury. He further said that the board has asked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for time for this.

Not only AR Rahman, but also some of the top music stars of Bangladesh will perform on the stage of this festival. This is not the first time AR Rahman has performed on a BCB show. The popular musician performed in a concert before the 2014 T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.
Virat Kohli, Lokesh Rahul, Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Faf du Plessis were scheduled to play in two T20 matches on March 20 and 21, 2020. However, if the opportunity arises, the BCB plans to host the matches.
Nizam said, “We have not backed down from the plan of hosting two T20 matches. We are committed to hosting those two matches. Whenever we get the chance, we will organize it. Now we are organizing a concert to be held on March 29 in Mirpur.
The Dhaka Premier League (DPL) will start from March 15 in Mirpur. For AR Rahman’s concert, the last two rounds match will be held at ULAB ground in late March.
