Australia abort T-20 series of New Zealand tour
CRICDOT DESK : Australia cancels New Zealand tour Ajid was scheduled to tour New Zealand next month to play three T20s. The New Zealand Cricket Board confirmed the matter on Wednesday. According to a report in the British newspaper The Guardian, the Australian was scheduled to travel to New Zealand on a four-day visit in March. This short T20 tour of Australia was originally scheduled in the hope that the quarantine rules required for visitors would be relaxed somewhat.
That didn’t happen anymore, the quarantine rule is still in force. That is why New Zealand’s tour of Australia from the end of January to February was also canceled. According to the report, the two boards have now agreed to cancel the World Twenty20 series on New Zealand soil.
The visit is scheduled to take place during the Pakistan tour. Australia will then play a Test series on Pakistani soil.
New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White said the tour of Australia was almost certain to be canceled after border restrictions were imposed.
“When we scheduled this visit, there was a hope that the border across Tasmania would be opened for those who would obey the rules,” he said. However, due to Omicron, all the rules and regulations of the border have changed. Which makes it impossible for us to continue the series. It’s frustrating. However, we know that this is the case for all. And we’re grateful for the rest of the series.
