Andre Russell’s destructive innings makes Deccan Gladiators champion
CRICDOT DESK : The Deccan Gladiators have won the fifth edition of the Abu Dhabi T-10 League. Deccan beat Delhi Bulls by a huge margin of 58 runs in the High Voltage final.
After winning the toss in Abu Dhabi, Delhi captain Dwayne Bravo decided to bat first. It didn’t take long to realize that the decision was suicidal. Two openers, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Andre Russell, have been attacking the Delhi bowlers from the start.
The Delhi Bulls could not take any wickets for Deccan. Deccan scored 159 runs without losing a wicket in the stipulated 10 overs. Russell remained unbeaten on 90 off just 32 balls, hitting nine fours and six sixes. Kohler-Cadmore remained unbeaten on 59 off 26 balls with 9 fours and 6 sixes.
Going down to play with the goal of victory, Delhi was crushed on the run hill. Except for Chanderpaul Hemraj, no one was able to put up a resistance with the bat. Hemraj’s 42-run innings off 20 balls only reduced the margin of defeat. At the end of the allotted 10 overs, Delhi lost 6 wickets and scored 103 runs. Timal Mills, Wanindu Hasaranga and Odin Smith took two wickets each. Destroyer Russell with the bat also got a wicket with the ball.
