Andre Russell to join for Melbourne Stars in BBL

CRICDOT DESK : The Big Bash League (BBL) Melbourne Stars announced on Wednesday that West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell will join the league this season. With five-game contracts, Russell is the fifth star of the season after Kais Ahmad, Joe Clark, Saeed Faridun and Harris Rauf.

The Stars played a forgotten opening game of the season, losing 152 runs to defending champion Sydney Sixers on December 5th in Sydney. Russell’s Stars’ first match will face his former BBL club, Sydney Thunder, on Friday.

“It is a great duty for our club to welcome Andre’s quality people to the Melbourne Stars. We want the Star Family to see the best MCG players in action and hope Andre will be world class. I can’t wait to work with him while he’s here. I’m looking forward to his debut on Friday night. ”

Three seasons at BBL from 2014 to 2017, 17 innings to 296 runs were performed at a strike rate of 166.29, including 21 and 6 runs. He took the ball and took 23 wickets with a savings rate of 7.97. Russell is currently undergoing 72 hours of forced quarantine after landing in Sydney. Russell was recently acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders prior to the 2022 IPL season.
