All Caribbean selectors lose job while Phil Simmons appointed as interim coach!
Following a clean sweep by the Pakistan team all Caribbean selectors on the verge of losing their job and Phil Simmons appointed as the intermediary coach. The West Indies cricket team was whitewashed in a three-match T20 series against Pakistan this month.
Earlier, the team did not perform as expected in the T20 World Cup held in the United Arab Emirates in October-November. The Caribbeans left before the semifinals. The selectors of Windies are losing their jobs due to such poor performance of the team in recent times. The term of the current selection panel expires on 31 December.
So far, Roger Harper has been the chief selector of Cricket West Indies (CWI). He was accompanied on the panel by Miles Bascombe. The Caribbean board is not extending the contract with them. Harper, the outgoing chief selector, welcomed the board’s decision. The CWI said in a statement on Saturday that a new selection panel would be formed soon. Until then, head coach Phil Simmons will head the interim panel.
