Ajaz Patel’s 10 wicket legacy earns him ICC’s Test player of the month
CRICDOT DESK : New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel has been named the ICC Player of the Year. The offspinner, who took 10 wickets in an innings against India at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, became the best of December.
Ejaz defeated Mayank Agarwal of India and Mitchell Starc of Australia. Ejaz took 14 wickets in the Mumbai Test against India in early December. Jim Laker and Anil Kumble became the third players in Test history to take 10 wickets in the first innings.
This was Ejaz’s first tour of India with a Test team. He wrote fairy tales in Mumbai where he was born. At the end of the first day of the Test, his name was next to all four Indian wickets. The next day he took two wickets in a row in the first session, but did not score a hat-trick. However, all the Indian batsmen said goodbye to him. Ejaz also received greetings from the opposing camp on the basis of such fame.
