We went on to take a risk and we were successful: Shakib

CRICDOT DESK : The Bangladesh cricket team made history by winning the match for the first time on South African soil. Bangladesh beat South Africa by 36 runs in the first match of the three-match ODI series.

Shakib Al Hasan, the world’s best all-rounder, won the Matchsera award in this historic match. He said the wicket was fit for a big run. Bangladesh lost the toss but their focus was on 300 runs.

“After playing 6-7 balls, I realized that the wicket was good,” he said. We had 300 runs in our head. Tamim and Liton gave us a good start. We needed to bat better in the old days. Yasir batted very well. Her pairing with me was important. There was not much danger after the ball left Shine at the end of 10 overs. We have to take risks by calculation. We succeed in that.

Shakib Al Hasan picked up a great half century in the match. He made 6 runs before being dismissed. On the other hand, Yasir did 50. Opener Liton also scored 50 runs.

After losing the toss, Bangladesh batted first and scored 124 runs to lose their first three wickets. Then Shakib Al Hasan took the helm of the team. Yasir Ali accompanied him from the side. After Shakib lifted the half-century, Yasir also started moving towards the half-century.

Meanwhile, Shakib could not play well in four consecutive ODIs before Friday’s match. Couldn’t pick up any half-century. Finally Shakib’s wait against South Africa ended. Shakib last scored 50 or more ODI runs in 2021 against Zimbabwe before hitting a half-century against the Proteas on Friday.
