Virat Kohli rejects board proposal to be captain again
CRICDOT DESK : Virat Kohli voluntarily stepped down as captain after a 2-1 loss in the Test series on the tour of South Africa. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not like the sudden resignation. The cricket board has offered him a farewell Test as captain; But one of the best cricketers in the world turned down that offer.
India will play a home Test series against Sri Lanka on February 25. The first of the two Tests is in Bangalore. That match could be the 100th Test of a right-handed batsman’s career. The Cricket Board offered him one last time as captain in this milestone match; But Kohli turned down the board’s offer.
A board official called Kohli on Friday to offer him a farewell match as captain in Bangalore. The Hindustan Times quoted a source as saying that Kohli had said in reply that one match would not make any difference. I’m not like that.
At the end of last year’s Twenty20 World Cup, Kohli announced that he would relinquish his leadership in the short format of cricket.
