Tom Latham heroics gives Kiwis series against Dutches


CRICDOT DESK : After a long time, New Zealand has started playing ODIs. And they are not playing well. They lost to the visiting Netherlands by a big margin in the second match after the first ODI. The Kiwis beat the Dutch by 118 runs in Hamilton today (April 2).

The hosts won the series 2-0 with one match in hand. After losing the toss and choosing to bat first, the Kiwis lost 9 wickets in 50 overs and put up a challenging score of 264 runs. Captain Tom Latham remained unbeaten with a maximum of 140 runs. Doug Brackwell (41), Henry Nichols (19), Is Sadhi (16) and Colin D’Grandhome (18) also scored runs.

After batting, the Netherlands were bowled out for 148 in 34.1 overs. Bas de Lidi scored 36, Vikramjit Singh 31 and Mikel Rippon 18 for the team. Among the Kiwi bowlers, Mitchell Brockwell took three wickets, Ishii two, Kyle Jamieson two and Doug Brockwell, Blair Tickner and Colin D’Grandhome one each.

Tom Latham was the best in the match. With this victory, New Zealand rose to number eight in the ODI Super League. They have 50 points in 5 wins in 5 matches.
