Taskin-Shakib takes a big jump at ICC ranking


CRICDOT DESK : Taskin Ahmed and Shakib Al Hasan got the good news by winning the historic series in South Africa. After 20 years of trying to tour Africa, Bangladesh won the match 2-1 in a three-match ODI series. Taskin took 5 wickets in the undeclared final and became the best in the match.

Taskin also won the series best award with 3 wickets in the first match in Africa and 5 wickets in the series winning match. As a result of his aesthetic performance in Africa, Taskin has moved up 15 places in the latest ICC ODI rankings.

Along with Taskin, Shakib Al Hasan has risen to the top ten in the bowlers’ rankings in the ICC’s weekly update. Captain Tamim Iqbal has improved the list of batsmen. Before the start of the ODI series against South Africa, Taskin was ranked 70th in the bowlers’ rankings. His performance in the first two matches improved by 12 steps in last week’s update.

Taskin, along with Sri Lanka’s Wanendu Hasaranga, finished 33rd in the bowlers’ rankings with five wickets in hand in the series-determining match. In the last ODI of the series, Shakib took four wickets for 24 runs and moved up four places to eighth position.

Opener Tamim Iqbal has risen to 20th position in the batsmen’s rankings after playing an unbeaten 8-run innings with a 9-wicket win in the last match of the series against South Africa. Liton Kumar Das improved his ranking by 46 runs in that match. He is now in the 30th position.

In the bowlers’ rankings, Mehedi Hasan Miraj, who is now at the seventh position in Bangladesh, and Mushfiqur Rahim at the 18th position of batsmen.
