Tamim-Liton opening partnership becomes record for Bangladesh
CRICDOT DESK : Bangladesh have started an ODI series against South Africa with the aim of changing the history of all past defeats. In the first ODI at Centurion, Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das set a record in the opening match on South African soil.
In the 18th over by Johnson, Bangladesh’s score touched 50 for no wicket. This becomes the record. The highest partnership in the first wicket against them on South African soil is 46 runs. Imrul Kayes was Tamim Iqbal’s partner in that match in Benoni in 2006.
However, Bangladesh’s highest opening pair against South Africa is 154 runs. Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar formed this record pair in Chittagong in 2015. Imrul and Soumya are both out of the national team now. Tamim-Liton’s opening partnership was broken by 95 runs till the end of today.
