Sri Lanka save last match to prevent whitewash!


CRICDOT DESK : Sri Lanka has lost the previous four matches. The hosts could not even make the slightest fight with Australia. In such a situation, there was a fear of being whitewashed. But that did not happen. In the fifth and final T20 of the series, the Lankans lost by 5 wickets to Ajit.

Hosts captain Aaron Finch decided to bat first after winning the toss in Melbourne on Sunday (February 20). Batting first, they lost 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and set a challenging score of 154 runs. In reply, the visitors reached the port of victory with 1 ball and 5 wickets in hand.

Kushal Mendis left the field after winning the match unbeaten for a maximum of 69 runs for the team. Besides, captain Dasun Shanaka scored 35, Asalanka 20 and Pathum Nisanka 13 runs. Among Aussie bowlers, Ken Richardson took two wickets and Ashton Agar took one. The remaining two runouts.

Earlier, Matthew Oyid scored an unbeaten 43, Glenn Maxwell 29, Joss English 23, Daniel Sams 17 and Marcus Stones 18 for Australia. Among the Sri Lankan bowlers, Lahiru Kumara took two wickets, Dushmant Chamira two, Chamika Karunaratne one and Jayavikarama one. Kushal Mendis was named man of the match and Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was named man of the series.
