South Africa provides a challenging score for India
CRICDOT DESK : South Africa put up a challenging 296-run stand with a pair of centuries by Timba Babuma and Russie Van der Dussen.
To win the first match of the three-match ODI series, the Indian cricket team led by Lokesh Rahul will have to score 296 runs.
The hosts decided to bat first after winning the toss at Boland Park in Pearl on Wednesday. The team that lost the wicket of opener Janeman Malan by 19 runs then lost by 56 and 6 runs to Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram.
In the fourth wicket, captain Babuma took the helm of the team along with Russie van der Dussen. They scored 204 runs off 164 balls. In this partnership, Babuma and Dussen scored a pair of centuries.
Babuma came into the discussion after scoring a century in her debut in 2016. Twice in the last two years, he got out in the nervous nineties. But this time Babuma did not have to fail.
He scored his second century in the 14th match of his ODI career. Babuma was dismissed for 262 in 48.1 overs. Before that he made 110 runs off 143 balls with the help of 6 boundaries.
Dusen scored 24 runs on the scoreboard after facing the last 11 balls with David Miller after Bavuma was out. He scored his second century in the 30th match of his career. Playing till the last ball of the innings, Dussen scored an unbeaten 129 off 96 balls with 9 fours and 4 sixes.
