Shane McDermott appointed as new Bangladesh fielding coach


CRICDOT DESK : The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed Shane McDermott as the fielding coach of the Bangladesh national team. Australian coach McDermott has more than two decades of coaching experience. This time he will start working with the Tigers from the upcoming tour of South Africa.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the names of the new fielding coaches in a statement. Coach Shane McDermott will arrive in Dhaka this week to join the South African Bangladesh team.

McDermott, 41, served as national academy head coach, national team fielding coach and high performance fitness co-ordinator from 2006 to 2008.

He has also been the fielding coach of the Sri Lankan team and the head coach of the Sri Lankan team. He has also served as interim assistant coach and fielding coach for the Australia senior team. Involved in various coaching activities with Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory and Cricket Tasmania.

South African Ryan Cook has been the fielding coach of Bangladesh for a long time. After the failure of the World Cup, the BCB did not renew his contract with him. Desi Mizanur Rahman Babul played in Pakistan and New Zealand series. This time Rajin Saleh, another former Tigers batsman, was given the responsibility against Afghanistan. However, before the end of the series, the BCB announced the name of the new coach.
