Shakib Al Hasan shortlisted for ICC ODI Player of the Year
CRICDOT DESK : Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan has been named in the ICC ODI Player of the Year list. A total of four cricketers have been nominated for the ODI Cricketer of the Year for 2021.
Apart from Shakib, the other three cricketers are Pakistan’s opener Babar Azam, Janeman Malan from South Africa and Paul Sterling from Ireland.
In 2021, Shakib has scored 26 runs in 9 ODIs at an average of 39.56. There are two half centuries in it. He took 18 wickets at an average of 16.52. The all-rounder made a series-winning performance against the West Indies in January earlier this year.
However, this year Shakib played his last ODI in July 2019. However, the three-match series against Sri Lanka at home in May did not play well. Besides taking 3 wickets in 3 matches, he scored only 19 runs.
The list was compiled by the ICC’s Awards Panel for Performance Performance between 1 January and 31 December 2021.
