Shaheen Afrdi appointed as Lahore Qalandars skipper
In an important announcement, Shaheen Afridi was appointed captain of the Lahore Qalandars prior to the 2022 Pakistan Super League (PSL). Left-handed runner bout will replace Sohel Aktal, who led the franchise in the previous tournament. Reports of Shaheen being charged with Qalandars have been around for some time.
However, franchise CEO Atif Rana confirmed progress at a press conference on Monday (December 20th). One of the best pacemakers in the world, Shaheen has been a prolific performer at PSL since its debut in 2018. However, the 21-year-old child has additional responsibility to lead the team. Akhtar is the franchise’s most successful captain and has certainly made a big mark as he led to the only final in the PSL 5 tournament.
“My priority is to constantly polish and watch a young cricket player improve his career. I’ve never seen a cricket groom with as good a skill as Shaheen Afridi.” Aqib Javed, who attended the event, said.
On the other hand, young pacemakers are not completely familiar with the leadership role they previously represented Sohail Akhtar at PSL6 and can’t wait to lead the Qalandas to their first title.
Shaheen is currently Qalandar’s leading wicket tacker and the seventh most wicket tacker in tournament history. The left arm pacemaker has an average of 21.20 50 wickets, with a savings rate of 7.65 in 37 games. Young runner bouts want to increase these numbers in the next season starting January 27th.
