Not interested to play IPL over national duties : Joe Root

Joe Root

CRICDOT DESK : The auction for the upcoming 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held on February 12 and 13 in Bangalore.

Cricketers interested in participating in IPL season-15 will be able to list their names in the auction till January 20, i.e. next Thursday.

England Test captain Joe Root did not get a chance to list himself in the IPL auction. He said no, I did not name the auction.

“I think we have a lot to do for England,” said Root, England’s captain after the Ashes series loss to Australia in Hobart on Sunday. This team demands my omnipotence. I really hope I get this opportunity. I will give up as much as I can, because I think the most about cricket in our country and try to take us where we are.

Like Joe Root, English star cricketers Ben Stokes and Mitchell Starc are also in doubt. It is uncertain whether they will participate in the IPL auction. It has become uncertain due to the crowded international schedule of the national team.

“I haven’t submitted my name yet,” said Mitchell Stark. But I will get a couple of days to decide on this. It’s definitely in the discussion, though with a lot of busy schedules ahead. I have not played for six years or more (in IPL). The World Cup later this year, so it has to be considered.
