Jeevan Mendis retires from international cricket

CRICDOT DESK : Sri Lankan all-rounder Jeevan Mendis has said goodbye to international cricket. Confirming his retirement on Twitter, Jeevan Mendis wrote: “I have had a great time with Sri Lankan cricket. I am proud of this journey that started in 2010. In this career I have learned a lot and witnessed some great moments. I am grateful to all my coaches and teammates for this journey.

Jeevan Mendis made his ODI debut on 1 June 2010 against Zimbabwe. He played his last ODI on 26 June 2019 against South Africa. In all, he played 57 ODIs in Sri Lanka’s jersey and scored 638 runs at an average of 16.60 with an economy rate of 5.14 and an average of 28. He took 26 wickets.

He also took 206 runs and 12 wickets in 22 Twenty20 matches. He also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Delhi franchise, taking just one wicket for 23 runs in 3 matches.
