‘India Will Say We Don’t Have Players Like Rizwan, Babar’: Rashid Latif
CRICDOT DESK : Former Pakistani cricket player Rashid Latif praised the dynamic duo Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. Both batters have been doing well lately and have played a major role in improving the team’s status in international cricket.
The Men in Green recently whitened the T20I series to the West Indies at home. In the Last Duel, Pakistan finished the best run in the shortest form of the game, chasing a huge target of 208 runs. Rizwan played a fierce stroke of 87 runs in just 45 deliveries, and his first partner, captain Babar, contributed 79 with 53 balls.
They set up a 158 run partnership for the first wicket in 2021, which was also the fourth 150plus opening stand. This is the second highest partnership on the T20I, following a large stand of 197 runs against South Africa earlier this year.
Rashid was pleased with the performance of both batters. In an interview with PTV Sports, a former cricket player compared the duo with an Indian colleague.
“About a year ago, especially in T20 cricket, he said there were no players in Pakistan such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. But after a while, I think the Indians will say that there are no players like [Mohammad] Rizwan or Bavar [Azam], “said PTV Sports Latif.
“I used to make reservations for scoring rates, but they made up for it at the perfect pace of innings,” he said.
Meanwhile, Rizwan became the first batter to record 2,000 T20I runs in a calendar year. On the other hand, for Babar, his score of 50 or higher on this year’s T20 cricket was the highest among cricket players.
