Domingo says he was confident with Miraz!
CRICDOT DESK : Bangladesh lost 6 wickets for 45 runs in reply to 218 runs against Afghanistan on Wednesday. Before the 50-yard line was crossed, when 8 wickets were gone, everyone said in one sentence that Bangladesh was going to be ashamed against the Afghans.
Even at the end of the match, team captain Tamim Iqbal said that after taking 6 wickets, he gave up hope of winning.
But Mehdi Hasan Miraj and Afif Hossain gave Bangladesh an unforgettable victory by averaging 174 runs for the seventh wicket. No one thought that they would bring victory to Bangladesh by building such a reputation.
However, head coach Russell Domingo said on Thursday that he knew Miraj and Afif would do something similar.
“You may not believe it now, but when Miraj went to bat, I told team analyst Srinivas Chandrasekharan that they would put up a 150-run partnership,” Domingo said. Then there will be 15 runs in front of Taskin-Shariful.
Domingo said he was confident he and Afif would do well based on Miraj’s recent performances.
Domingo said there is a lot of confidence in Mirage’s batting at the moment. He has a Test century. He also batted well in the New Zealand tour and the BPL. It’s hard to believe, but I still believed I could win. Because the wicket was good, the run rate was also in our hands.
