BPL and PSL to commence at same time!
CRICDOT DESK : Two franchise league to be commence at the same time as The Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be held in January-February to avoid clashes with the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the franchise league of Bangladesh, will be formed at the same time. Due to the same schedule, This has raised doubts about the participation of quality foreign cricketers in the BPL.
It was The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) which has set a deadline of January 20 to February 20 for the BPL and then the PSL schedule was released on Friday (December 3). According to that schedule, this year’s PSL event will start on January 26 and will end on February 28.
Past records show that most of the foreign cricketers in the BPL are from Pakistan. With PSL at the same time, there is no possibility of getting quality Pakistani cricketers in BPL. Besides, it would not be a surprise if popular foreign cricketers from other countries opt for PSL instead of BPL.
PSL authorities have already announced the date of the players’ draft. The parties are working hard. On the other hand, BCB is still looking for a franchise for this year’s BPL. The BPL may also be lagging behind in terms of interest of foreign cricketers due to lagging behind in the race for professionalism.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the PSL Players’ Draft will be held on December 12. All the matches of the event will be held in Pakistan. The first leg matches will be held in Karachi. The venue of the second leg matches including the final is Lahore.
