Bangladesh break the chain after 16 long years!
CRICDOT DESK :Mashrafe Bin Mortuza, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim – these five senior cricketers are known as Panchpandav in Bangladesh cricket. Of these five, only Mushfiqur Rahim is in the New Zealand tour squad. But despite being in the team, he did not play in the second Test of the series on Sunday. As a result, after 16 years, Bangladesh played Test without any Panchpandavs.
No member of the Panchpandab was present in the last Test against Sri Lanka which started on 28 February 2006. Then about 16 years have passed. At this time, they have become the trust of Bangladesh. They have played in all three formats, dominating as a reward for their consistency. Even if someone went out of the XI due to injury or any other reason, 5 people did not stay out together. This is the first time Bangladesh has seen such a scene in ODIs and T20s.

Mashrafe’s Test career came to a halt in 2009. Mahmudullah Riyadh retired last year. This is not the case. Tamim Iqbal did not travel to New Zealand this time due to injury. Shakib Al Hasan kept himself away from the tour citing family reasons. Of these senior stars, only Mushfiqur was with the team. But he also dropped out of this test due to groin injury. All in all, Christchurch brought back memories of 18 years ago.
