Bangladesh becomes champion beating India in the final
CRICDOT DESK : Another historic moment has been created as Bangladesh U-19 team has become the champion in the three-team tournament in India. In the final, India U-19 ‘B’ team was defeated by only 53 runs and the youth won by 161 runs.
Batting first at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday, the Bangladesh U-19 team scored 234 runs. The match came down in the rain in 42 overs. After losing the toss, Mahfizul Islam returned with the first valid delivery. Iftekhar Hossain and Prantik Nowroz’s pair handled the pressure a little but the two could not make the innings big.
Iftekhar returned with 16 off 35 balls, and in the end played the highest run of the tournament with an innings of 26 runs off 25 balls.
Aich Mollah then pulled the Bangladesh U-19 team. He was dismissed as the ninth batsman to bat at number four. Earlier, he played an innings of 93 runs off 91 balls, in which he hit 10 sixes and 2 sixes.
Despite losing 4 wickets at intervals of 21 runs, Ashikur Zaman’s partnership with Aich for the eighth wicket was 94 runs. Ashikur hit 5 fours and 2 sixes in an innings of 50 off 56 balls. With 2 balls left, Bangladesh U-19 team was all out in the end.
Dhanush Gaur of Indian U-19 team took 3 wickets. Ravi Kumar, Aum Kanabar and Shaswat Dangal took 2 wickets each.
The Indian U-19 ‘B’ team was under pressure from the start to chase the target. He lost 3 wickets for 5 runs in 6 overs. India have 4 wickets for 15 runs.
Uday Sharan and Kaushal Tambe added 33 runs for the fifth wicket. After that he made 5 runs and took the last 6 wickets. They were bowled out for 53 in 21.3 overs.
Left-arm spinner Naimur Rahman of Bangladesh U-19 team took 4 wickets for 18 runs. Right-arm pacer Ashikur Zaman and offspinner Meherab Hasan took two wickets each.
