Babar picks 6th ton after 2 years


CRICDOT DESK : Nin Karachi Test. He last played an innings of 143 against Bangladesh in February 2020 in Rawalpindi. After that he saw 6 fifties in 20 consecutive innings but could not turn it into a century.

Babar Azam batted brilliantly to avoid defeat in the second innings of the Karachi Test against Australia on Tuesday.

Pakistan were bowled out for 146 in the first innings in reply to Australia’s 558/9. Australia declared the innings with a huge target of 508 runs for Pakistan with 96/2 in the second innings.

It is difficult to bat on the fourth day of the Test. Facing that difficult challenge, Pakistan lost the wickets of Imam-ul-Haq and Azhar Ali, the two best batsmen of the team, by 21 runs.

Imam-ul-Haq scored a century in both innings in the first Test of the three-match series in Rawalpindi. Azhar Ali did not get a chance to bat in the second innings. He played a brilliant innings of 175 runs in the first innings.

But Imam-ul-Azhar and Azhar Ali could not take advantage of the team’s danger in Karachi. After the departure of the star two batsmen, captain Babar Azam batted responsibly with opener Abdullah Shafiq.

They have already made a pair of 181 runs. Babar Azam has picked up his sixth century in the 40th match of his Test career in this unbroken partnership.

At the end of the fourth day’s play, Pakistan scored 192 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. The hosts are still trailing by 314 runs. Pakistan will have to bat for three full sessions on the last day on Wednesday to avoid defeat. Then the draw is sure not to win.

Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafiq are unbeaten on 102 and 61 at the end of the fourth day’s play.
