AB De Villiers hints working for SA and RCB
CRICDOT DESK : AB de Villiers is uncertain about his immediate future, but feels he has a role to play in South Africa’s Cricket and Indian Premier League (IPL) Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The former South African skipper, who announced his retirement from all formats in November 2021, was featured in Protea’s 114 tests, 228 ODIs and 78 T20s. He was also part of the IPL franchise RCB for over 10 years joining the team before the 2011 season.
He said he, 37, intends to help with coaching and mentoring roles.
“I believe I still have a role to play with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at SA Cricket and at IPL. I don’t know what’s coming next, but I’ll take it day by day. I’ve been coaching and coaching young players with potential and skills for the past few years, “he told TimesLive.com.za. He said he decided to move on because he wasn’t getting the same joy all over the world as before.
“I noticed that I was in a park where the score ran and getting good results for the team didn’t really match anything anymore and the balance started to put on my gloves
“I wasn’t the type to challenge all the energies of my skills and cricket skills. I’ve always played games to enjoy it. And the moment it began to sink, I thought it was time to move on, “he added.
De Villias said goodbye to the sport after recording 20,017 international runs.
He also accumulated many runs during his mission at RCB, which had a deadly partnership with Virat Kohli.
